Election of Officers and Steering Committee to be elected at Brent Green Party AGM

 

REQUIRED

 

Coordinator – The local party Co-ordinator (or Chair) leads and maintains the local party’s agreed overall strategy. They may occasionally act as a spokesperson for the party. The Co-ordinator chairs monthly meetings and our AGM, and prepares and presents a report in the AGM. They are also responsible for setting the agenda for meetings.

 

Local Party Contact – This is the published contact for external enquiries. Responding by replying or passing on public requests  to councillors or Brent Green Party officers and being part of the London Officers Whats App Group.

 

Treasurer-  The Treasurer oversees the local party’s finances and gives a report at each monthly meeting. They also deliver a comprehensive set of accounts – outlining the past year’s financial activity – at the AGM. The Treasurer keeps up-to-date on the latest legislation and guidance on fundraising, donation and tax requirements, and works closely with the Nominating Officer (Election Agent) and candidates to ensure election spending and donation rules are followed.

 

PPERA Second Officer, who, in case the treasurer departs, is responsible for

maintaining accounting records until the Electoral Commission has been notified that

a new treasurer has been appointed.

 

Election Agent - The election agent is legally responsible for the election campaign of their candidate. This includes:

• Submission of the nomination papers

• Knowledge of the election timetable and ensuring statutory deadlines are met

• Authorisation of election expenses and ensuring spending stays within legal limits

• Completion and submission of the expenses return after the

election

 

Nominating Officer -  Election Nominating Officer, who gets a certificate from the party’s National Election Agent (who is also the nationally registered Nominating Officer) to authorise election candidates in the local party’s area to use the name ‘Green Party’ (and

certain other specific variants of it). This will usually be the person the local party

appoints as year-round election agent, but it does not have to be.

ESSENTIAL

 

Political Liaison Officer – Liaising between Officers and local party, and the Green Group on the Council on policy issues and priorities. Attends the Green group meetings as a participating but non-voting members

 

Campaign Organiser – During elections:  Organises campaigning activities for elections, in particular, door knocking and leafleting. Involves liaising with other team members, in the development of strategy, materials, guidance and mobilising of activists .

Outside of Elections: Coordinates campaigns year-round to influence change on specific issues working with the Green Group’s  priorties. Develops strategies, tactics, messaging, plans direct actions, engages activists and develops allies in the community.

 

Social Media Officer – Sharing relevant news stories and actioning digital campaigns during elections and in the interim. The Social Media Officer oversees the local party’s digital communications strategy. Create engaging posts that have showcase the parties successes, action days and meetings. Edit and create appealing videos for Instagram & TikTok on our councillors, our policies, why people should join and turning comments of bad faith into opportunities of content. Work closely with councillors for any personal media requests they may have.

 

Website Officer - Responsible for maintaining and editing the website for the local Green Party, using Wordpress and Action Network. This involves creating and updating content on pages, such as current campaigns, news posts, biography pages and manifesto through the Wordpress content management system. Use Action Network to set up forms and events, for members and supporters to sign up to. Cooperate with the communications group and councillors/candidates, who contribute content and ensure it is accurate and in line with party standards, with formatting and layout before publishing.

 

Data Manager: The Data Officer manages the party’s canvassing infrastructure and electoral data, overseeing the canvassing application, processing register updates, maintaining robust data backups, and coordinating polling day technical operations. They produce and communicate statistical analysis of all party activity to directly inform campaign strategy and canvassing management, while providing ongoing technical support and guidance to app users. The role also involves building data pipelines and applications that give members clear, accessible oversight of core electoral and canvassing metrics.

 

Membership Officer - The Membership Officer is responsible for developing the local party’s engagement levels, and welcomes new members when they join. A report is delivered by the officer at each monthly meeting. They also maintain the list of local members, volunteers and supporters, and respond to any questions about membership that the local party may receive.

 

Equalities Officer - This role is all about making sure more people feel able to participate, be heard, and step forward, especially those who are often underrepresented. Increasing participation from a broader range of voices , Supporting future candidates from underrepresented backgrounds. improving accessibility of meetings and events , Creating a more welcoming, inclusive local community.

 

Youth Officer – The local Green Party youth officer is responsible for engaging young members, promoting youth initiatives, and representing the interests of young people within the party. This role often involves organizing events, campaigns, and outreach activities to encourage youth participation in politics.

 

Data Officer:

DESIRABLE

 

London Regional Green Party delegate– Attends London Region Green Party Meetings – represents any issues raised by Brent Green Party and reports back on Region meetings.

 

Trade Union Liaison Officer – TULO liaise with trade unions and the labour movement locally, regionally. Send support to local TU's in disputes on behalf of Brent Green Party.

 

 

Events Manger responsible for organising in person events  and supporting our wider campaigning initiatives.
